Character association and path analysis in coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) genotypes
Abstract
An investigation was carried out in ZAHRS, Babbur farm, Hiriyur during 2016- 2017 rabi season for evaluation of Coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) genotypes for growth, yield and quality under central dry zone of Karnataka. The experiment was laid out in the Randomized Complete Block Design with 20 genotypes and were replicated thrice. The study revealed that plant height, number of primary branches per plant, plant spread and test weight of seed showed significantly positive association withseed yield per plant. Path analysis revealed that, number of primary branches per plant had highest direct positive effect on seed yield followed by plant height at harvest. Therefore, greater emphasis should be given on these characters while selecting for higher seed yield and related traits
